The Scottish Police Memorial was unveiled by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, on Tuesday 7 September 2004.
The ceremony was attended by several hundred relatives of officers whose names appear on the granite walls of the memorial. These relatives were joined by every Scottish Chief Constable and Scottish political figures, including Justice Minister Cathy Jamieson. The memorial sits in an area of the Scottish Police College grounds that affords privacy and a peaceful environment for families who will visit it over the years.
From a vision of just over 18 months ago, the Scottish Police Memorial has become a reality. Many people have played a part in this and will share with the surviving families a pride in the fact that these officers are for the first time recognised and honoured on a national scale.
An annual service of remembrance is to be held at the memorial on the first Wednesday in September. For further details please contact us on 0870 7442586.
